MONKEY AND BEAR

“Monkey and Bear” traces the exploitative relationship between a monkey and bear as they are suddenly released from a life of slavery. Similar to George Orwell’s Animal Farm, a new hierarchy is established where the monkey attempts to manipulate the bear. In this song, the hierarchy is gendered (male over female), and later, Bear leaves her body in an ambiguous, dramatic finish.
